The Illinois Central Gulf and Calumet Railroad is a "protolanced" HO scale model railroad set in the late 1970's. The layout models elements of the ICG from Chicago to Champaign as well as Decatur, Illinois. The freelanced Calumet Railroad is also featured and is based on the belt and short lines of Chicago. The design has been created with operations as the ultimate goal with heavy overhead traffic, as well as local and urban switching. The layout will be dispatched using the computerized CTC system called CATS. Scenery as diverse as the corn fields of central Illinois, small towns, and urban steel mill oprations are included. Interchange with the GTW, EJ&E, and IHB in the Chicago area will provide additional operational interest. More info located at www.icgrr.com.
